When will the changes to online bookings only take effect?

From Thursday 1st August 2019, we are moving all our bookings online and making some changes to the size and timings of sessions.

We will be reducing the number of tickets available for peak sessions by 25%, meaning there will be fewer people in the water at any one time. Creating a better experience in the pools, flumes, changing village and car park. To ensure that Coral Reef is still able to cater for customer demand, we will be hosting slightly shorter sessions (1.5 hours) more regularly throughout the day. Booking online will allow you to guarantee your session time.

Making our session sizes smaller means there will be fewer people in the pool and changing village at any one time. This will result in queuing time being reduced and improved access to the pool and flumes.

We will also be making car parking easier with the introduction of a new online inclusive car parking ticket.

This decision follows a successful trial run earlier this year, where customers reported an improved and more pleasant experience.

Reduced time, reduced costs?

Session times will reduce by 30 minutes, from 2 hours to 1.5 hours. This will be accompanied by a 25% reduction in bathers at each session.

The trial that was run earlier in the year showed that customers experienced better value for money during the shorter sessions with fewer bathers. Parking was easier, there was less queuing at the main reception, access to the changing village was improved and the showers were less crowded. Fewer people in the pool also resulted in customers having better access to the waterslides and rides, with less time spent queuing.

There was also more table space in the Reef Restaurant.

As a result, prices for the 1.5-hour sessions will remain the same.

What is meant by reduced numbers?

Rather than operate the Coral Reef pool to its maximum bather numbers, we have lowered our session capacities by 25% to alleviate crowded pool space and free up changing facilities for an overall better experience for customers.

We have increased the amount of sessions available to ensure that this reduction does not affect our ability to cater for the same number of customers or affect families’ access to this well-loved facility.

Will I get 1.5 hours in the pool?

Yes. Changing time is allocated as part of your session. Admissions are processed in 15-minute intervals, where customers are offered a different coloured band to indicate the start time of their 1.5-hour pool session.

The 1.5-hour session starts at the end of each interval. meaning the first 15 mins of your session is allocated to changing time. Therefore your session will technically finish 15 minutes after your booked session.

We recommend you arrive 10 minutes before your booking in order to maximise your time in the pool.

Do the changes include Coral Spa?

Coral Spa sessions currently run alongside our 2-hour pool sessions. As of Thursday 1st August, Coral Spa sessions will reduce by 30 minutes to run alongside our 1.5-hour pool sessions.

However, Coral Spa will now host its own separate capacity, so customers only booking to use Coral Spa can do so online without the bather number in pools affecting admissions. Coral Spa tickets will still include use of the Pools (and Giant Waterslides during Family swimming and Waterslide sessions) if you wish to do so.

Can I book consecutive sessions?

Yes. Customers can book consecutive sessions, both sessions are charged at the advertised normal rate dependent upon the session.

Can I purchase a ticket from main reception?

As of Thursday 1st August, no admissions will be available at main reception during holidays and weekend sessions.

Can i upgrade to a Flexi Ticket after purchasing a Fixed Ticket?

No, Customers have the option at time of booking to upgrade from a fixed ticket to a Flexi ticket, it is not possible to upgrade after purchase.

Can I get a refund if I’m running late or my child or member of my family are sick?

No refunds or transfers will be offered on fixed tickets.

Booking a Flexi ticket will allow you to amend your own booking up to 1 hour before your session. To do this you must create an account when first making your Flexi Ticket booking.

Subject to availability, you can amend your own booking date and time by logging into your account if you are running late of a member of your family is ill.
